12 Ga – 00 Buck 1oz Slug – 2 3/4″ – Winchester Defender (S12PDX1) – 100 Rounds

Winchester’s PDX1 Defender combines a slug and buckshot in a single shell, built specifically for personal defense. This listing is Winchester PDX1 Defender 12 gauge 2-3/4 inch combination shell with a 1 ounce rifled slug and three plated 00 buck pellets, MPN S12PDX1, sold as 100 rounds.

Winchester rates this load at 1,150 fps. Each shell fires a 1 ounce rifled slug, which is designed to segment on impact, along with three plated 00 buckshot pellets. The idea is to combine the mass of a slug with the spread of buckshot in one shot. The moderate velocity keeps recoil more manageable than full-power slugs, which helps with control and follow-up shots in a home defense shotgun. Pattern and point of impact depend heavily on your shotgun, so practice with it to learn where the slug and pellets strike at your expected distances.

This ammunition fits shotguns chambered in 12 gauge with a 2-3/4 inch or longer chamber, including the Mossberg 500, 590, and Shockwave, Remington 870, Winchester SXP Defender, Benelli Nova and M4, Beretta 1301, and Maverick 88. A common question is whether PDX1 penetrates walls. Any 12 gauge defensive load, especially one with a slug, can penetrate interior walls, so know your home layout and what lies beyond your target. Another common question is whether this load works in shotguns with chokes. Test it with your shotgun’s choke; most defensive shotguns with cylinder bores handle it well.

Winchester S12PDX1 is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA. This listing ships as 10 boxes of 10 rounds for a total of 100 rounds of 12 gauge PDX1 Defender, enough to learn how it shoots in your gun and keep your defensive shotgun stocked with fresh shells. Store shotshells in a cool, dry place and rotate the ones in your gun once or twice a year, using the older shells for practice so you stay familiar with how this load recoils and patterns.
