12 Ga – 2-3/4″ 1 oz Rifled Slug – Federal (F127 RS) – 250 Rounds

Rifled slugs turn a smoothbore 12 gauge into a capable deer and hog gun, and Federal Power-Shok is one of the most common slugs in hunting camps across the country. This listing is Federal Power-Shok 12 gauge 2-3/4 inch 1 ounce hollow point rifled slug ammo, MPN F127 RS, sold as a 250 round case.

Federal rates this load at 1,610 fps with 2,521 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The 1 ounce Foster-style slug has a hollow base that keeps it nose-forward in flight and external rifling-style ribs that let it pass safely through chokes. The hollow point nose helps it expand on game. In most smoothbore shotguns with rifle sights or an optic, these slugs are effective on deer and hogs out to roughly 75 to 100 yards, depending on the gun and the shooter.

This ammunition fits shotguns chambered in 12 gauge with a 2-3/4 inch or longer chamber, including the Remington 870, Mossberg 500 and 590, Benelli M2, M4, and Nova, Beretta 1301 and A300, and Winchester SXP. A common question is whether rifled slugs can be fired in a rifled barrel. They can be fired safely, but Foster-style rifled slugs are designed for smoothbore barrels and sabot slugs usually give better accuracy from a fully rifled barrel. Another common question is which choke to use. Federal rifled slugs are safe through any choke, but most shotguns shoot them best with an improved cylinder or cylinder choke, so test yours.

Federal F127 RS is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA. This case comes in factory packaging as 50 boxes of 5 rounds for a total of 250 rounds of 12 gauge 1 ounce rifled slugs. Buying by the case gives you enough slugs to sight in, practice, and hunt with the same lot all season. Many states and counties restrict deer hunting to shotguns or straight-wall cartridges, which keeps slugs in high demand every fall.
