17 HMR – 17 gr Varmint Tipped – CCI (949CC) – 200 Rounds

CCI developed the A17 load alongside the Savage A17 semi-automatic rifle, and it works just as well in bolt guns and revolvers. This listing is CCI A17 17 HMR 17 grain Varmint Tipped ammo, MPN 949CC, sold as one 200 round box.

CCI rates this load at 2,650 fps with 265 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, which is faster than many standard 17 HMR loads. The polymer-tipped 17 grain bullet opens quickly on impact for clean results on ground squirrels, prairie dogs, crows, and similar small varmints. The extra speed adds a little reach and flattens trajectory compared with slower 17 HMR offerings. As with any 17 HMR load, it is meant for varmints and small pests, not deer-sized game.

This ammunition fits rifles and handguns chambered in 17 HMR, including the Savage A17 and 93R17, the Ruger American Rimfire and 77/17, the CZ 457, the Henry H001V, the Marlin 917, and 17 HMR revolvers. A common question is whether this load is a good match for the Savage A17. It was introduced with that rifle and is a dependable pairing for its delayed blowback action. Another common question is whether 17 HMR fits a 22 WMR chamber. The cases share a parent design, but the bullet diameters differ, so never fire 17 HMR in a 22 Magnum.

CCI 949CC is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA by CCI in Lewiston, Idaho. Rimfire cases are not reloadable. This listing ships as a single 200 round box of 17 HMR, which is CCI’s value packaging for this load. Two hundred rounds of one lot is enough to zero a scope, learn your holdovers, and still head out for several days of varmint shooting. Keep the box closed between trips, since rimfire primers stay most reliable when the rounds are stored cool and dry.
