17 WSM – 25 Gr Polymer Tip – Winchester (S17W25) – 500 Rounds

This 17 WSM load (S17W25) gives small-game hunters a heavier rimfire bullet with excellent speed, reach, and downrange stability. Winchester loads it with a 25 grain polymer tip bullet. That extra bullet weight gives the cartridge a more settled feel than the lighter 20 grain load. The polymer tip also helps the bullet fly cleanly and expand quickly on impact.

Winchester rates this ammunition at 2,600 fps with 375 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. Therefore, it still outruns most rimfire cartridges by a wide margin. The 25 grain bullet sacrifices some speed compared to the 20 grain version, but it gains useful weight and wind resistance. That tradeoff makes sense for small-game hunting where distance and field conditions can change fast.

The polymer tip gives this load its sharp terminal behavior. It initiates expansion quickly. Meanwhile, the heavier bullet helps carry energy better as distance increases.
