22 Short – 27 Gr CPHP – CCI (0028) – 1000 Rounds

Owners of vintage 22 Short rifles, gallery guns, and mini revolvers know how hard it can be to find good 22 Short ammunition. This listing is CCI 22 Short High Velocity 27 grain copper plated hollow point ammo, MPN 0028, sold as 1,000 rounds. It keeps older rifles and small revolvers chambered in 22 Short shooting regularly.

CCI rates this load at 1,105 fps with 73 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The 27 grain copper plated hollow point is light and quiet compared with 22 Long Rifle, and the hollow point helps it expand on small pests like rats and sparrows at close range. Copper plating reduces leading in the bore. It is well suited to plinking, barn pest control, and enjoying classic 22 Short firearms.

It fits firearms chambered in 22 Short, including vintage Winchester Model 1890 and 62 pump gallery rifles, Remington Model 12 and older single shots marked 22 Short, North American Arms 22 Short mini revolvers, and other rifles or handguns stamped for the cartridge. A common question is whether 22 Short can be fired in a 22 LR rifle. Many manually operated 22 LR rifles marked 22 Short, Long, or Long Rifle accept it, but it will not cycle most semi-automatics, and frequent use can leave a fouling ring in a 22 LR chamber. Another common question is whether 22 Short is quieter. Yes, it is noticeably quieter than high velocity 22 LR.

CCI 0028 is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA by CCI in Lewiston, Idaho. Rimfire cases are not reloadable, and the load is non-corrosive. This listing ships as 10 boxes of 100 rounds, 1,000 total, from one lot. That is a supply that will last a long time for most 22 Short shooters, given how hard this cartridge can be to find on store shelves.
