22 Short – 29gr CB – CCI Sub-Sonic (0026) – 500 Rounds

Some shooting calls for almost no noise, such as dispatching pests around a barn or practicing in a large rural backyard where it is legal. This listing is CCI 22 Short CB sub-sonic ammo with a 29 grain lead bullet, MPN 0026, sold as 500 rounds.

CCI lists this load at 710 fps with 32 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. CB stands for conical ball, a low-powered cartridge that relies mainly on priming compound rather than a full powder charge. The result is a report closer to an air rifle than a typical 22 rimfire, which makes it useful for short-range pest control on mice, rats, and sparrows, and for teaching new shooters without loud muzzle blast. Keep shots close, because the slow, light bullet drops quickly and has little energy at distance.

This ammunition is made for firearms chambered in 22 Short, and it is often used in manually operated 22 rifles such as bolt-action and single-shot models. A common question is whether CB Shorts work in a 22 Long Rifle firearm. Many 22 LR bolt-action and single-shot rifles will fire them, but they will not cycle a semi-automatic action, and frequent use can leave fouling in the chamber that makes extracting Long Rifle cases harder. Check your owner manual first. Another common question is whether CB Shorts are safe to shoot indoors. They are quieter, but they are still live ammunition that can penetrate walls, so use a proper backstop and follow local discharge laws.

CCI 0026 is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA by CCI in Lewiston, Idaho. Rimfire cases are not reloadable. This listing ships as 5 boxes of 100 rounds for a total of 500 rounds of 22 Short CB. A box of 100 lasts a long time for pest work, so 500 rounds keeps you supplied for several seasons.
