243 Win – 58 gr V-MAX – Hornady Superformance Varmint (8343) – 200 Rounds

Hornady Superformance Varmint is a go-to 243 Win varmint ammo choice for shooters who want a fast, flat-shooting load for prairie dogs, coyotes, and groundhogs. This listing is the Hornady 243 Win 58 grain V-MAX Superformance Varmint load, MPN 8343, sold as a 200 round bulk case. If your 243 Winchester is your main varmint and predator rifle, buying by the case keeps the same load in your rifle for a full season of shooting and saves you from re-zeroing every time you restock.

The 58 grain V-MAX bullet uses a polymer tip designed to start expansion the moment it hits, which is what you want on small, thin-skinned targets. Hornady rates this load at 3,925 fps with 1,984 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, and lists a ballistic coefficient of .250 and a sectional density of .140 for the bullet. Superformance propellant is what gives this cartridge its extra velocity over standard loadings. For a varmint hunter, more speed with a light bullet means a flatter trajectory, less holdover at distance, and easier hits on small targets like prairie dogs and ground squirrels.

This ammunition is made for any rifle chambered in 243 Winchester, including bolt-action hunting rifles and varmint rigs. It fits prairie dog shooters who go through a lot of rounds in a day, predator callers working coyotes and fox, and farmers who keep groundhogs out of fields. A common question is whether a light 58 grain bullet is right for your barrel twist, and most 243 Win rifles handle it well, but group size always depends on your rifle, so test a box first. Once you find it shoots, order the 200 round bulk case so your varmint rifle stays fed.

Hornady Superformance Varmint 8343 is made in the USA and is new production ammunition, not reloads. Each cartridge uses a new brass case with a boxer primer, and the load is non-corrosive, so cleaning is normal and your bore is safe from corrosive salts. Because the brass is boxer primed, the fired cases are reloadable, which is a plus for handloaders building 243 Win varmint loads. This bulk case comes in factory packaging as 10 boxes of 20 rounds for a total of 200 rounds.
