The 158 grain jacketed soft point is the classic 357 Magnum load, and PMC’s version gives revolver and lever gun owners full-power performance by the case. This listing is PMC Bronze 357 Magnum 158 grain jacketed soft point ammo, MPN 357A, sold as a 1,000 round case.
PMC rates this load at 1,471 fps with 759 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, a figure that likely reflects a longer test barrel. Expect lower velocity from a typical 4 inch revolver and more from a lever action carbine. The jacketed soft point bullet has an exposed lead nose that is designed to expand, which makes it a practical choice for small game, hogs, and deer at short range where 357 Magnum is legal for hunting, as well as for practicing with full-power magnum recoil. The jacket also limits leading in the barrel compared with plain lead bullets.
This ammunition fits revolvers and rifles chambered in 357 Magnum, including the Smith and Wesson 686, 586, and 19, Ruger GP100, SP101, Blackhawk, and Security Six, Colt Python and King Cobra, Taurus 692, and lever action rifles such as the Henry Big Boy, Marlin 1894C, and Rossi R92. A common question is whether 357 Magnum can be fired in a 38 Special revolver. No. Never fire 357 Magnum in a gun marked only 38 Special. A 357 revolver can safely fire 38 Special, however. Another common question is whether 357 Magnum is enough for deer. Many hunters take deer with 357 at modest ranges, especially from a carbine, but check your state rules and keep shots close.
PMC 357A is new production ammunition, not reloads, loaded in South Korea. Each round uses a reloadable brass case with a boxer primer and is non-corrosive. This case comes in factory packaging as 20 boxes of 50 rounds for a total of 1,000 rounds of 357 Magnum 158 grain JSP.
