38 Super Auto – 130 Gr FMJ +P – PPU (PPH38SU) – 500 Rounds

The 38 Super is a favorite in 1911 circles and practical shooting because it carries more velocity than 9mm in the same frame size and feeds beautifully from single-stack magazines. This listing is PPU 38 Super +P 130 grain full metal jacket ammo, MPN PPH38SU, sold as 500 rounds for range use, steel matches, and keeping a 38 Super 1911 well fed.

PPU rates this load at 1,213 fps with 425 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The 130 grain FMJ bullet is the traditional 38 Super weight, and its round nose profile feeds reliably. The higher velocity gives a flat trajectory at pistol distances, and in compensated race guns the extra gas helps reduce muzzle rise. Full metal jacket bullets do not expand, so this is a practice and plinking load, not a defensive or hunting round.

This ammunition fits pistols chambered in 38 Super, also called 38 Super Auto, including Colt Government and Commander 38 Super models, Kimber, Springfield, Dan Wesson, and STI and Staccato 1911 and 2011 variants built for the cartridge. A common question is why 38 Super ammo is marked +P. The headstamp was added to keep the higher pressure Super out of older 38 ACP pistols that share the same dimensions, so 38 Super +P is standard for modern 38 Super firearms. Another common question is whether 38 Super is the same as 38 Special. It is not. One is a rimless auto cartridge and the other a rimmed revolver round.

PPU PPH38SU is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in Serbia by Prvi Partizan. Each round uses a reloadable brass case with a boxer primer and non-corrosive priming. This listing ships as 10 boxes of 50 rounds for a total of 500 rounds from one lot. Since 38 Super is a niche cartridge that can be harder to find, a stock of 500 rounds keeps your pistol ready for a season of matches.
