Speer Lawman brings law enforcement training ammunition to the 45 ACP, with a Total Metal Jacket bullet that shoots cleaner than standard ball. This listing is Speer Lawman 45 ACP 230 grain Total Metal Jacket flat nose ammo, MPN 53653, sold as a 1,000 round case.
Speer rates this load at 830 fps with 352 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, matching the classic 230 grain 45 ACP ballistics. A Total Metal Jacket bullet is plated over its base as well as its nose, so no lead is exposed to burning powder. That reduces airborne lead at the firing line and fouling in the barrel, which is why TMJ is common at indoor ranges and in agency training programs. The flat nose profile also cuts cleaner holes in paper than a round nose. The bullet does not expand, so this is a practice and qualification load rather than a defensive or hunting round.
This ammunition fits pistols and carbines chambered in 45 ACP, also listed as 45 Auto, including 1911 pistols from Colt, Springfield, Kimber, Ruger, Sig, and Dan Wesson, the Glock 21 and 30, Smith and Wesson M&P45, HK45 and USP45, SIG P220 and P227, and carbines such as the Kriss Vector. A common question is whether flat nose bullets feed in a 1911. Most modern 1911s feed flat nose ammunition well, but some older or tightly fitted guns prefer round nose ball, so test a box first. Another common question is whether Lawman is reloadable. Yes. It uses brass cases with boxer primers.
Speer Lawman 53653 is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA in Lewiston, Idaho. Each round is non-corrosive. This case comes in factory packaging as 20 boxes of 50 rounds for a total of 1,000 rounds of 45 ACP 230 grain TMJ. Buying by the case keeps you on one production lot for consistent function.
