Federal American Eagle AE45A is a long-time favorite of 1911 and Glock 21 shooters, and this case covers a lot of range days. This listing is Federal American Eagle 45 ACP 230 grain full metal jacket ammo, MPN AE45A, sold as a 1,000 round case.
Federal rates this load at 890 fps with 404 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. That is a little faster than many competing 230 grain range loads, which helps it cycle firmly in pistols with standard or slightly heavy recoil springs. The 230 grain round nose bullet is the original 45 ACP design and feeds reliably even in older 1911s. A full metal jacket bullet does not expand, so this ammunition is intended for practice, competition, and training rather than self defense or hunting.
This ammunition fits pistols and carbines chambered in 45 ACP, also listed as 45 Auto. That includes 1911 pistols such as the Colt Government Model, Springfield Mil-Spec, Kimber Custom II, Ruger SR1911, and Rock Island GI, as well as the Glock 21, 30, and 41, Smith and Wesson M&P45 and SW1911, SIG P220, HK45, Springfield XD-M 45, and the Kriss Vector. A common question is whether 45 ACP and 45 Colt are the same. They are not. 45 Colt is a longer revolver cartridge, so only use this ammunition in a firearm marked 45 ACP or 45 Auto. Another common question is whether this ammo is subsonic. Yes. At 890 fps it stays below the speed of sound, which makes it a good choice for suppressed 45s.
Federal AE45A is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA. Each round uses a reloadable brass case with a boxer primer and is non-corrosive. This case comes in factory packaging as 20 boxes of 50 rounds for a total of 1,000 rounds of 45 ACP 230 grain FMJ. Buying by the case keeps you on one production lot.

Federal is what I shoot. Bulk Munitions had the inventory when others didn’t and they were prompt with the delivery. I will consider using Bulk Munitions again for my future needs.

I only use Federal in my handgun. For practice I use this or the Gold Medal Match, depending on availability which has been a huge issue so access to a bulk purchase hit the spot.
