450 Bushmaster – 250 gr FTX – Hornady Custom (82244) – 200 Rounds

The 450 Bushmaster was developed with Hornady, and this is the classic load the cartridge was built around. This listing is Hornady Custom 450 Bushmaster 250 grain FTX ammo, MPN 82244, sold as a 200 round bulk case for hunters and AR owners who want to stock up on the original 450 Bushmaster load.

The FTX (Flex Tip eXpanding) bullet uses a soft polymer tip that improves the ballistic coefficient over a flat nose bullet and initiates expansion on impact. Hornady rates this load at 2,200 fps with 2,686 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, with a ballistic coefficient of .210 and a sectional density of .175. That combination delivers hard-hitting, controlled expansion on deer and hogs out to the distances most 450 Bushmaster hunters shoot.

The 450 Bushmaster was designed for the AR-15 platform and fits a standard AR-15 lower with a 450 Bushmaster upper, bolt, and magazines. It is also chambered in bolt action rifles such as the Ruger American Ranch, which makes it a popular choice for hunters who want one big bore round for both platforms. A common question is whether 450 Bushmaster is legal in straight-wall cartridge states such as Michigan, Ohio, and Indiana. It is a straight-wall case and qualifies in many of those areas, but regulations change and differ by state, so always confirm your local rules before the season. Compared with the 350 Legend, the 450 Bushmaster fires a much heavier .452 inch bullet, which gives it more energy and a wider wound channel at the cost of more recoil, so it suits hunters who value stopping power inside about 200 yards. With 200 rounds you have enough to zero, practice, and fill tags for several seasons.

Hornady Custom 82244 is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA. Each cartridge uses a brass case with a boxer primer and is non-corrosive, and the boxer primed brass is reloadable for handloaders. Buying by the case also keeps you on one production lot, so point of impact and velocity stay consistent from box to box. This case comes in factory packaging as 10 boxes of 20 rounds for a total of 200 rounds of 450 Bushmaster 250 grain FTX (Flex Tip eXpanding).
