Most bulk 7.62×39 on the market is steel-cased and Berdan-primed. It works, but the cases can’t be reloaded, many indoor ranges don’t allow steel, and some shooters prefer to keep steel out of their rifles. This PPU load uses new brass cases with non-corrosive Boxer primers instead. Brass extracts smoothly, is easier on extractors, and gives handloaders reusable cases. The 123 grain full metal jacket bullet is the standard 7.62×39 weight, so it matches the sights on AK and SKS rifles and feeds reliably from standard magazines. PPU rates this load at 2,350 fps and 1,508 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. It is built for target practice, training, and plinking, not hunting or self-defense. Consistent velocities also help you keep tight groups when zeroing a red dot or iron sights.

The 7.62x39mm was adopted by the Soviet Union in 1944 and became one of the most widely used rifle cartridges in the world.
