I have always been a huge fan of Gold Dot for duty ammo and Speer for practice ammo. Speer put on a ballistics clinic for my agency to demonstrate the effectiveness of Gold Dot ammunition. We went through quite a few blocks of ballistic gelatin that day. We shot all the competitors ammo (Black Talon, Silver Tips, etc.) and then the Gold Dot. We actually got to do the shooting. We shot straight into the gelatin; we shot through drywall, glass panes, auto glass, differing layers of clothing, hollow core doors (and some other stuff) into the gelatin. I came away from that demonstration knowing that Gold Dot ammo was the schizzle! It is all I use for duty and personal defense. The other lesson I learned that day is to shoot the same bullet weight practice ammo as your duty/defense ammo. I needed some cheaper 147 gr ammo for practice through my suppressor.
