Federal’s law enforcement slug pairs a 1 ounce rifled slug with the Hydra-Shok hollow point design and a velocity tuned for control. This listing is Federal Law Enforcement 12 gauge 2-3/4 inch 1 ounce Hydra-Shok hollow point rifled slug ammo, MPN LE127 RS, sold as a 250 round case.

Federal lists this load at 1,300 fps. That is noticeably slower than full-power 1 ounce slugs, which commonly run around 1,600 fps, so it produces less recoil and allows faster, more accurate follow-up shots while still delivering a heavy, hard-hitting projectile. The Hydra-Shok hollow point nose is designed to expand on impact. Slugs extend a shotgun’s effective range well beyond buckshot, which is why patrol officers and hog hunters keep them on hand.

This ammunition fits shotguns chambered in 12 gauge with a 2-3/4 inch or longer chamber, including the Remington 870 Police, Mossberg 590A1 and 500, Benelli M4 and M1014, Beretta 1301 Tactical, and Winchester SXP Defender. A common question is whether this slug can be used for deer hunting. It is a capable deer and hog load where slugs are legal, with typical smoothbore accuracy best inside roughly 75 yards. Another common question is whether rifled slugs are safe through chokes. Federal rifled slugs are safe through any choke, though most shotguns are most accurate with an improved cylinder or cylinder bore. Test your gun with a few rounds before relying on it.

    Ran through my Benelli M2 Tactical with a mag tube extension and other accessories flawlessly. Virtually no recoil compared to deer slugs (speaking as a 6’2″ 170lb man). Very accurate and zero cycling issues out of 50 rounds fired. Well done, Federal!

    My only gripe is that I wish they would ship through UPS. FedEx just *tosses* the package onto the front porch for it to get rained on and for a porch pirate to come and steal. My UPS driver knows to take stuff like that around to the back out of the rain and out of sight. I’m willing to pay the little extra cost in shipping.
