Nosler built the Varmageddon line for one purpose: explosive performance on varmints. This load uses a 35 grain flat base tipped bullet with a black polymer tip and a thin jacket. The tip initiates violent expansion the instant it hits, so prairie dogs, ground squirrels, and groundhogs are dispatched with dramatic, highly visible hits. The flat base design is known for easy accuracy, especially in shorter-range cartridges like the Hornet where a boat tail offers little benefit. Nosler rates this load at 3,000 fps and 699 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. That speed flattens the Hornet’s trajectory and makes holdovers simpler at 150 to 200 yards.
