Description

Varmint shooters who spend long days on prairie dog towns or coyote stands go through a lot of 223, and steel case hollow points keep the cost of that volume down. This listing is Wolf Polyformance 223 Remington 55 grain hollow point steel case ammo, MPN 22355HP, sold as a 500 round case.

This load is listed at 3,241 fps with 1,283 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The 55 grain hollow point is meant for varmints and small predators, where the open nose helps the bullet expand more than a full metal jacket would. It is also a popular economy plinking round. Wolf uses a polymer coating on its steel cases to aid extraction and protect against corrosion. This is not a premium controlled expansion bullet, so it is best suited to varmints and target shooting rather than deer-sized game.

This ammunition fits rifles chambered in 223 Remington, including AR-15 rifles, the Ruger Mini-14, the Kel-Tec RDB, the Savage Axis, and the Ruger American Ranch, and it can be fired in rifles marked 5.56 NATO. A common question is whether steel case ammo hurts an AR-15. Steel case can cause more extractor wear and occasional stuck cases in tight chambers, but many rifles run it well, so test a box in yours. Another common question is whether steel case 223 is allowed at indoor ranges. Many indoor ranges prohibit steel cases, so ask before you bring this load.

Wolf 22355HP is new production imported ammunition, not reloads. The polymer-coated steel cases are magnetic and not reloadable, and the load is non-corrosive. This case contains 25 boxes of 20 rounds for a total of 500 rounds. Because the brass does not need to be collected, steel case is a convenient choice for prairie dog shoots and other outings where picking up empties is impractical.

Love them, came in the mail super fast and they shoot great! I have not had a problem with them jamming up. Like they say if it can’t shoot steel they don’t deserve brass!
