38 Special – 158 Gr SWC-HP – PPU (PPH38SH) – 500 Rounds

Looking for a classic 38 Special defense load you can afford to practice with? Pick up this 500 round case of PPU PPH38SH 38 Special 158 grain semi-wadcutter hollow point ammo from Prvi Partizan.

The 158 grain lead semi-wadcutter hollow point is one of the most respected 38 Special loads ever made. Police departments relied on this style of bullet for decades, and many revolver experts still prefer it. The sharp shoulder of the semi-wadcutter cuts a full-diameter hole instead of pushing tissue aside like a round nose. The hollow point cavity in the soft lead nose allows it to expand at the modest velocities of short-barreled revolvers, where many jacketed hollow points struggle to open. The heavy 158 grain weight also gives good penetration. PPU rates this load at 902 fps and 282 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, delivering a steady push rather than a sharp snap.

The 38 Special is chambered in revolvers like the Smith & Wesson J-Frame and Model 10, Ruger LCR and SP101, Colt Cobra, Taurus 856, and Charter Arms Undercover. It also fires safely in any 357 Magnum revolver or lever-action rifle. The manageable recoil makes this load a good match for newer shooters and anyone who wants a practical home defense revolver load. Since you should practice with the same ammo you protect yourself with, a 500 round case lets you train regularly with your carry load and learn exactly where it hits. Prvi Partizan has built ammunition in Serbia since 1928 and is known for consistent quality.

This imported ammo is new production, brass-cased, Boxer-primed, and non-corrosive. The fired brass is reloadable. Each box holds 50 rounds, and ten boxes make up this 500 round case. Lead bullets can leave some fouling, so clean your revolver’s forcing cone and cylinder after long sessions. Store extra boxes in a cool, dry place.
