Federal XM193 is one of the most popular 5.56 NATO training loads in the country, and the bulk pack skips the small boxes to keep cost per round down. This listing is Federal American Eagle XM193 5.56x45mm NATO 55 grain full metal jacket boat tail ammo, MPN XM193BK, sold as a 1,000 round bulk pack.
Federal rates XM193 at 3,165 fps with 1,223 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. It is loaded to 5.56 NATO pressure, so it runs AR-15 gas systems with authority and shoots flat at typical carbine distances. The 55 grain FMJ boat tail bullet has a lead core with no steel penetrator, so it is accepted at most ranges that ban green tip, and it stabilizes in nearly every AR-15 twist rate. A full metal jacket bullet is not built to expand reliably, so this ammunition is meant for training and practice rather than hunting.
Bulk packs ship the rounds loose in a single sealed container rather than in 20 round boxes, which is why many high-volume shooters prefer them: pour into an ammo can, load magazines with a speed loader, and go. This ammunition fits rifles chambered in 5.56x45mm NATO or 223 Wylde, including AR-15 rifles and carbines, the Ruger Mini-14 in 5.56, Sig MCX, FN SCAR 16, IWI Tavor, and HK416 pattern rifles. A common question is whether XM193 is the same as M193. XM193 is Federal’s commercial version of the M193 specification. Another common question is whether 5.56 can be fired in a 223 rifle. It is not recommended, so only use it in rifles marked 5.56 or 223 Wylde.
Federal XM193BK is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA. Each round uses a reloadable brass case with a boxer primer and is non-corrosive. This listing ships as a 1,000 round bulk pack of 5.56 NATO 55 grain FMJ-BT from one lot.
