7.62x39mm – 124 gr FMJ Steel Case – Wolf Military Classic (MC762FMJ) – 1000 Rounds

AK and SKS owners have relied on steel case 7.62×39 for affordable volume shooting for a long time, and a full case keeps a rifle fed for months. This listing is Wolf Military Classic 7.62x39mm 124 grain full metal jacket steel case ammo, MPN MC762FMJ, sold as a 1,000 round case for plinking, training, and building a reserve supply for a rifle that was designed around steel cased cartridges.

This load is listed at 2,330 fps at the muzzle, which is typical for the cartridge and gives the familiar trajectory and recoil of the 7.62×39 out to 200 or 300 yards. The bullet has a bi-metal jacket, meaning a copper-clad steel jacket around a lead core, so the bullet attracts a magnet. Because it is a non-expanding full metal jacket, it is suited to target shooting and practice rather than deer hunting, where a soft point is the ethical choice.

This ammunition fits rifles chambered in 7.62x39mm, including AK-47 and AKM pattern rifles, the SKS, Ruger Mini-30, Ruger American Ranch in 7.62×39, CZ 527 and CZ 600 Range, and AR-15 rifles built with a dedicated 7.62×39 upper, bolt, and magazines. A common question is whether 7.62×39 and 7.62×51 (308) are interchangeable. They are not. The 7.62×39 case is much shorter, so only use it in a gun marked 7.62×39. Another common question is whether bi-metal bullets are allowed at public ranges. Many ranges ban them because they can spark and damage steel targets and backstops, and a staff member may test with a magnet, so check the rules before your trip.

Wolf MC762FMJ is new production ammunition, not reloads. Wolf is an imported steel case brand. The cases are polymer-coated steel with non-corrosive Berdan primers, so they cannot be reloaded and are magnetic, which makes cleanup with a magnet easy. This case holds 50 boxes of 20 rounds for 1,000 total from one lot, so function stays consistent across the whole supply.
