This load uses the 154-grain SST, or Super Shock Tip, bullet. The polymer tip boosts the ballistic coefficient and acts as a wedge on impact, starting expansion almost immediately. Hornady’s InterLock ring locks the jacket to the lead core, so the bullet keeps its weight and penetrates instead of breaking apart. On whitetail and mule deer, that fast, controlled expansion delivers quick, clean kills and good blood trails.

This load clocks in at 3,030 fps and 3,139 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. With a 200-yard zero, you can hold near center on a deer out to about 300 yards. The 154-grain weight is also noticeably softer in recoil than 175- and 180-grain 7mm PRC loads.

Hornady introduced the 7mm PRC in 2022 as a long-action companion to the 6.5 PRC and 300 PRC. It is built to shoot heavy, high-BC 7mm bullets in rifles with fast twist barrels, and it matches or beats the 7mm Remington Magnum while fitting modern long-range designs.
