22 LR – 40 gr LRN – Magtech (22B) – 500 Rounds in Bottle

Magtech packs this 22 LR load loose in a 500 round plastic bottle, a durable and easy-to-pour format for plinking and training. This listing is Magtech 22 Long Rifle 40 grain lead round nose ammo, MPN 22B, sold as a 500 round bottle.

Magtech lists this load at 1,150 fps from a 24 inch barrel, putting it a bit below most high-velocity 22 LR. The moderate speed keeps noise and recoil low, which makes it comfortable for new shooters and youth programs, and many bolt action and lever action rifles shoot this kind of 40 grain load accurately. The lead round nose bullet is a solid, non-expanding bullet suited to target practice, plinking, and informal small game shooting at short range where legal. Because velocity is moderate, some semi-automatic rimfires with stiff recoil springs may run more reliably with high-velocity ammo, so test a few magazines in yours.

This ammunition fits rifles and handguns chambered in 22 Long Rifle, including bolt action rifles such as the CZ 457, Savage Mark II, and Ruger American Rimfire, lever actions such as the Henry H001 and Browning BL-22, and semi-autos such as the Ruger 10/22, Marlin Model 60, Browning Buck Mark, and Ruger Mark IV. A common question is whether the bottle is resealable. Yes. The screw cap keeps loose rounds contained and protected in a range bag. Another common question is whether 22 LR fits a 22 Magnum firearm. It does not, so only use it in a firearm marked 22 Long Rifle.

Magtech 22B is new production ammunition, not reloads. It is a non-corrosive rimfire load and, like all rimfire ammunition, it is not reloadable. This listing ships as one 500 round bottle of 22 LR 40 grain LRN. A bottle is a practical size for a few afternoons of plinking or a youth shooting session, and it stores neatly on a shelf or in a range bag without the crushed cardboard boxes that loose bulk rimfire often comes in.
