40 SW – 180 gr TMJ – Speer Lawman (53652) – 1000 Rounds

Speer Lawman 40 S&W is a training load built to mirror the recoil of 180 grain duty ammunition, which is why so many agencies that issued the 40 trained with it. This listing is Speer Lawman 40 S&W 180 grain Total Metal Jacket ammo, MPN 53652, sold as a 1,000 round case.

Speer rates this load at 1,000 fps with 400 ft-lbs of muzzle energy, a close match for popular 180 grain duty hollow points such as Speer Gold Dot and Federal HST. The Total Metal Jacket bullet is plated over its base as well as its nose, so no lead is exposed to burning powder. That reduces airborne lead at the firing line and fouling in the barrel, which makes it a fit for indoor ranges and frequent training. The bullet does not expand, so this is a practice and qualification load.

This ammunition fits pistols and carbines chambered in 40 S&W, including the Glock 22, 23, 27, and 35, SIG P226, P229, and P320, Smith and Wesson M&P40, Springfield XD, Heckler and Koch USP, Beretta PX4, and the Beretta CX4 Storm carbine. A common question is whether TMJ is the same as FMJ. On paper they perform the same, but TMJ encloses the base for cleaner shooting. Another common question is whether 40 S&W police trade-in pistols are worth buying. Many are excellent values, and Lawman is a natural training load for them since it was developed for the same agencies.

Speer Lawman 53652 is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA in Lewiston, Idaho. Each round uses a reloadable brass case with a boxer primer and is non-corrosive. This case comes in factory packaging as 20 boxes of 50 rounds for a total of 1,000 rounds of 40 S&W 180 grain TMJ. Buying by the case keeps you on one production lot for consistent function.
