40 S&W – 180 Grain FMJ – Federal C.O.P.S. (AE40BBL1) – 1000 Rounds

This is American Eagle range ammunition in special C.O.P.S. packaging, which Federal created to support Concerns of Police Survivors, an organization that helps the families of officers killed in the line of duty. This listing is Federal American Eagle 40 S&W 180 grain full metal jacket ammunition, MPN AE40BBL1, sold as a 1,000 round case for officers and civilians who train with 40 caliber pistols.

Federal rates this load at 1,000 fps with 400 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The 180 grain weight mirrors many duty loads in 40 S&W, so recoil and point of impact in practice closely match what most officers carry. The full metal jacket bullet feeds reliably and suits paper, steel, and qualification courses. It does not expand, so it is intended for training and matches, not for self defense or hunting.

This ammunition fits pistols chambered in 40 S&W, including the Glock 22, 23, 27, and 35, Smith and Wesson M&P40 and Shield, SIG P229 and P320, Springfield XD, Beretta 96 and PX4 Storm, and carbines such as the Beretta CX4 Storm in 40 S&W. A common question is how far 1,000 rounds goes. It covers a full year of monthly practice for most shooters, or a few training courses plus qualification. Another common question is whether 40 S&W fits a pistol marked 357 SIG. It does not without a barrel swap. Some pistols convert between the two with a dedicated barrel, but always match the ammunition to the barrel marking.

Federal AE40BBL1 is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA. Each round uses a reloadable brass case with a boxer primer and is non-corrosive. This listing ships as 20 boxes of 50 rounds for a total of 1,000 rounds of 40 S&W 180 grain FMJ from one lot, which keeps your practice consistent from month to month. Brass shooters who reload will appreciate the clean, once-fired cases this case leaves behind.
