Speer Lawman was built as a training load for law enforcement agencies, designed to closely mimic the feel of duty ammunition at a training-ammo price. This listing is Speer Lawman 9mm Luger 124 grain Total Metal Jacket ammo, MPN 53651, sold as a 1,000 round case.
The key difference between Lawman and typical range ammo is the bullet. A Total Metal Jacket, or TMJ, bullet is fully encapsulated in copper, including the base. A standard FMJ bullet has an exposed lead base that can vaporize when the powder ignites. Covering the base cuts down on airborne lead at the firing line and leaves less fouling in your barrel, which is why many indoor ranges and agencies prefer TMJ for training. Speer rates this load at 1,090 fps with 327 ft-lbs of muzzle energy. The TMJ bullet does not expand, so this is a practice and qualification round rather than a self defense or hunting load.
This ammunition fits any firearm chambered in 9mm Luger, also called 9x19mm or 9mm Parabellum, including the Glock 17, 19, 45, and 47, the SIG P320 and P365, Smith and Wesson M&P9, Beretta 92 and APX, CZ 75, HK VP9, and carbines such as the Ruger PC Carbine. A common question is whether TMJ is the same as FMJ. They perform the same on target, but TMJ has a plated, enclosed base while FMJ leaves the lead base exposed. Another common question is why practice with Lawman. The 124 grain weight matches Speer Gold Dot 124 grain duty ammunition, so recoil and point of impact stay close to a common carry load.
Speer Lawman 53651 is new production ammunition, not reloads, made in the USA in Lewiston, Idaho. Each round uses a reloadable brass case with a boxer primer and is non-corrosive. This case comes in factory packaging as 20 boxes of 50 rounds for a total of 1,000 rounds of 9mm 124 grain TMJ. Buying by the case keeps you on one production lot so your training ammunition stays consistent from box to box.

Fast service and a great selection of ammo at a good price. I only use Speer Lawmen 124 gr FMJ ammo it is clean and consistent.

I had searched for information on the cleanest ammunition available in 9mm FMJ and Lawman (a brand I had not previously used) came up on several sites. My 1911 double stack Nighthawk and Race City Defense pistols are precise pistols and tuned to 124 gr loads and I shoot them a lot, maybe 500 rounds per week. I have gotten tired of FTF, stovepipes, etc with other brands and tearing down and cleaning two 1911s twice a week is a bit of a time commitment. The Lawman ammunition has been perfect for about 3,000 rounds and I believe I have cut down my cleaning time significantly. The guns run smooth and fast and the people who collect and reload the brass seem happy. I can’t remember how much I’ve paid, but it is worth it. My striker fired guns run fine with Lawman too, but I don’t shoot nearly the volume of ammo in them and tend to use very cheap ammo, steel case, etc. manufactured, etc.
I believe I will stick with Lawman for accuracy, reliability and consistency in my race guns.

Having used Speer ammunition before I expected better. Not bad but no banana. I have an XD9 – and there are critics of the pistol true, but I used three other brands same weights and jackets – with greater accuracy. May have been the lot production?.. Not amazed.
