The Maglula UpLULA, MPN UP60B in black, is a hand-held loader and unloader for semi-automatic pistol magazines from 9mm Luger up through 45 ACP. It is built for shooters who load a lot of magazines at the range, in a class, or before a match and want to save their thumbs. You set the loader over the magazine, push a round under the lips, squeeze, and the next round is pressed into place, at roughly one round per second once you have the rhythm. Unloading works the same way in reverse, with no need to thumb rounds off the follower.
Maglula markets the UpLULA as a universal loader, and it does fit a very wide range of magazines, but buyers should know exactly what that means. Out of the box it is sized for double stack magazines, which covers most modern striker fired and service pistols such as the Glock 17 and 19, Smith and Wesson M&P, SIG P320, Springfield XD, CZ 75, Beretta 92 and similar models. Single stack magazines up to 14.5 mm (0.57 inch) wide, including 1911 style magazines and slim single stack 9mm carry pistols, sit loosely in the body and need the Maglula 1911AI Aligner Insert (MPN UP65G) to load correctly. The insert snaps into the loader, narrows the cavity, and is sold separately. If most of your magazines are single stack, plan on buying the insert with the loader.
A few magazines will not work even with the insert. Maglula lists the Glock 36 six round magazine, Smith and Wesson 908, 3913, 3953 and 3954 seven round 9mm single stack magazines, the Kel-Tec PMR-30, and the Luger P08 as not compatible. Cartridges with an overall length over 33 mm, such as 9×23, 38 Special, 357 Magnum and 45 Colt, will not fit, and magazines with less than 8 mm between the feed lips will not accept it. A common question is whether the UpLULA loads 380 Auto. For 22 LR, 25 ACP, 32 ACP and most 380 ACP magazines, use the Maglula BabyUpLULA (UP64B). A few wider 380 magazines, including the Glock 42, Ruger LC380, SIG P365-380 and Smith and Wesson Shield EZ 380, load on the UpLULA instead. Another common question is whether it fills the last round. On some stiff, high capacity magazines the final round may need to be pressed in by hand.
The body is molded polymer and weighs about 2.55 ounces, small enough to live in a range bag or pistol case. There are no springs to adjust. The loader self adjusts to the magazine, so one tool covers several pistols in a mixed collection. This is a new, factory sealed Maglula product sold as one loader in black. I have a Sig Sauer P365 and loading its magazines by hand is VERY difficult. This tool makes it much easier. It has also worked seamlessly on Beretta 92 and M&P Shield EZ mags. Definitely a tool worth investing in.

This is my second MagLULA, and it is an accessory I would never want to leave out of my bag, especially if shooting a lot of target rounds.
For those unaware, there is an adapter you can get for single-stack mags (1911, etc.) that snaps onto the bottom of the MagLULA that makes the mag fit more tightly during loading.
