MagLULA AK-47 Magazine Loader – 7.62x39mm (LU12B)

The Maglula LULA, MPN LU12B, is a loader and unloader built for AK-47 pattern magazines in 7.62x39mm. AK magazines have strong springs and steep, rigid feed lips, so thumbing 30 rounds into one is slow and hard on the hands. The LULA clips onto the top of the magazine and lets you load each round without forcing it past the lips, and it unloads just as easily when you need to empty magazines for storage or transport.

Each squeeze presses the stack down so the next cartridge drops in from the top. Users report filling a 30 round AK magazine in about 30 seconds once they have the motion down. Because the tool, not the cartridge, pushes the follower down, it avoids scraping the feed lips and eliminates the sore thumbs that come with loading steel and polymer AK magazines by hand. It snaps on and off and stays attached while you work.

Maglula rates the LU12B for AK-47 7.62x39mm magazines, IMI Galil 5.56x45mm magazines, and Palmetto State Armory AK-101 5.56 magazines. Users also report good results with Magpul PMAG AK magazines and Tapco Intrafuse magazines. A common question is whether it fits every AK magazine. Maglula specifically lists US Palm AK magazines, including the AK30, as not compatible. Another common question is whether it works on 5.45×39 AK-74 magazines. Maglula does not rate it for 5.45, so we do not recommend it for those.

The body is reinforced polymer, light enough to carry in a pocket or chest rig. This listing is one new, factory packaged Maglula LULA LU12B in black. If you also run an AR-15, the AR-15 LULA (LU10B) and the StripLULA (SL50B) handle 223 and 5.56 AR magazines, and the M1A/M14 LULA (LU20B) covers 308 rifles. Pair the loader with a case of 7.62×39 and your next range day starts with full magazines and no sore thumbs.
